CHAOYANG DISTRICT. Feeling like pizza? Annie's offers wood-fired pizza and other Italian favorites. This restaurant is not so renowned for its authentic Italian cuisine, as for ultra-friendly staff and its family-friendly atmosphere, including a play area for kids.

CHAOYANG DISTRICT. To date, Athena is the Chinese capital's one and only Greek restaurant and, despite the lack of comptetition, is not bad at all. The interior is designed with traditional Greek motifs and the menu is full of Aegean favorites ­ from baclava to tazatziki, moussaka to dolmades, olives and feta cheese. Wash it all down with Greek liqueurs. A hearty feed!

CHAOYANG EAST DISTRICT. An ornate staircase takes you up to Flo's, perhaps Beijing's best-known French restaurant. Favorites include pan-fried rib shortloin veal with mushrooms and the chef's specialty, hot goose liver with apple. A modest selection of wine is available.

One of you wants Chinese and one wants Western fare? Then try Casablanca, a cosmopolitan restaurant that offers Chinese and Asian stir-fries, curries and rice dishes, and at the same time serves up very tasty Arabic dishes, Greek salads, Italian pasta and Middle Eastern kebabs. Something for everyone! Also has Italian ice cream, espresso coffee and some European wines.

DONGCHENG DISTRICT. Authentic French cuisine and impeccable service. Favorites include escargots, foie gras and Chateaubriand. Tempting desserts and top French wines are available. Justine's also serves an excellent Sunday brunch.
